Good grief, what happened to the grand adventure!? Well, considering that I was hopelessly lost and falling behind on the first day of class it was immediately apparent that I was in way over my head. On one hand this wasn't the end of the world as I could get most of my tuition back. Where the bus skidded off the road was the fact that my visa was tied to the school. By withdrawing I have to leave Korea or apply for a new visa. Given the headache and expense of living in a hotel, jumping through all the visa hoops, and the fact that the new visa would only be good for ninety days I have decided to throw in the towel. Despite the short time I learned a lot and saw another side of Korea.
So, now I have to go home, find an apartment, replace the car I sold, and get a job. Will I ever return to Korea? Of course; however, from now on I will be happy with just being a tourist. On a positive note, I now have enough skymiles to fly to K-Con :)
180531 My first conscious day in the ROK (I pretty much went straight to bed when I first got here) I took an eight kilometer walk over to the opposite site of the river.
It is really quite comfortable.
The dorm room is bigger than advertised.
Looking back at the hotel (sort of).
Hyeri spotting (I never manage to get pics of her on taxi ads or billboards).
180601 New neighborhood, moved into the dorm.
Finally a successful Hyeri taxi capture.
And a wet bath (bathroom/shower combo).
180603 Seoul National University Language Education Institute.
On the Yeongdong bridge looking West.
Now I am back in the R.O.K. (Republic of Korea) to go to school and study the Korean language. For my first couple of days I will be staying in Gangnam (where I stayed last year). Presently I am a bit jet lagged and chomping at the bit to get out and hit the streets so I am not going to do much with the web site today; however, over the coming days, weeks, and months I plan on making numerous improvements including a professionally edited version of the Crumpets story. So, I'm off to enjoy the first day of my grand adventure.
As you may know I visited Korea last year.

Lotte tower through the Yeongdong bridge.
Seoul at night, unfortunately this is after they have turned off all of the pretty LED's.
A single burner stove (that is one burner more than I need).
Ttukseom visitor center and the Dongbu expressway.
Definitely not Gangnam, I miss the Han already.
